Digital signature
An electronic record that captures who signed, when (timestamp), from what device (IP address, browser fingerprint), and what was signed (document hash). Legally binding under the ESIGN Act across all 50 US states.
ESIGN Act
The Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (2000), the federal law that makes digital signatures legally equivalent to handwritten signatures in the United States for most contracts.
UETA
Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, adopted by 49 states, which provides the state-level legal framework supporting electronic signatures alongside the ESIGN Act.
Audit trail
A timestamped log of every action on a document: who opened it, who signed it, when, and from what device. Hub creates an audit trail automatically for every contract.
