Reputation Management

Review acquisition, response templates, and GBP Q&A seeding.

Reputation is the closest thing to a silver bullet in contractor marketing. It influences Google Maps rankings (see Local SEO), ad click-through rates, AI citation decisions, and homeowner close rates all at the same time. A contractor with 150 reviews at 4.9 stars does not lose to a contractor with 45 reviews at 4.7 stars, even if the second contractor charges less.

The problem is that most contractors leave reputation to chance. They ask for reviews when they remember. They respond to negative ones emotionally. They never seed their Google Q&A. They watch competitors with half the experience out-rank them in Maps and have no idea why. The answer is almost always review velocity.

We run reputation management as an engineered system, not a vibe. Every completed job triggers an automated review request via SMS and email. Every incoming review gets a response within 24 hours using custom templates that vary by review content. Every month we review what is working and what is not. The system is the same one running on Rocket Garage Door Services, which is why we know it works.

How It Works

The 6-step process
behind every engagement.

01

Reputation audit

We pull your current reviews across Google, Facebook, Yelp, BBB, and any industry-specific directories. We calculate your real review velocity (reviews per month over trailing 6 months), identify any policy violations worth flagging, and benchmark you against your top 3 local competitors.

02

Job completion trigger setup

We integrate with your CRM, dispatch system, or payment processor to detect when a job completes. The moment a job is marked done, a review request goes out. Delays kill review rates. Same-day requests convert 5 to 10x better than next-week follow-ups.

03

Multi-channel request flow

SMS first (85 percent open rate), then email at 24 hours if no response, then a gentle second SMS at 5 days. Each message is branded and short. The goal is zero friction: customer taps link, lands on a smart page that routes happy customers to Google and unhappy ones to a private feedback form.

04

Review response system

We respond to every review within 24 hours. Positive reviews get warm, specific responses (not copy-paste). Negative reviews get a calm, professional response that acknowledges the issue and moves the conversation offline. We have custom templates for 12 common scenarios.

05

Q&A seeding

Google Business Profile Q&A is a forgotten ranking lever. We seed 10 to 20 anchor questions with detailed answers based on the questions your customers actually ask. This improves visibility in Maps and helps AI engines understand what you do.

06

Monthly reputation reporting

You get a monthly report showing review volume, rating trends, response times, competitor benchmarks, and any issues that need owner attention. We also flag suspicious or fake reviews for Google removal requests.

Questions

Reputation Management FAQs

Can you guarantee 5-star reviews?+
No, and no honest agency should. What we guarantee is a system that gets you more reviews, faster, with a better average rating than you have today. If your underlying service is bad, no reputation management system can save you. If your service is good, you will see compounding results.
Is review gating allowed?+
Google considers aggressive review gating a policy violation. What we do is compliant: we send every customer the same neutral invite to leave a review. On the landing page, customers can optionally send private feedback if they had a problem instead of posting publicly. Nothing prevents unhappy customers from going directly to Google if they want to.
What about fake negative reviews from competitors?+
We monitor for fake reviews (multiple patterns: brand-new profiles, no detail, coordinated timing) and flag them to Google. Google removes 30 to 50 percent of legitimate flags on contractor businesses. For the ones Google does not remove, we respond professionally in a way that makes the review look suspicious to any reader.
How do you handle reviews on Yelp and Facebook?+
Same process as Google. Yelp is more restrictive on requesting reviews (Yelp actively penalizes obvious solicitation), so we send Yelp invites more sparingly. Facebook is more forgiving. The bulk of our effort is on Google because Google reviews influence Maps rankings (a core part of our Local SEO service) and no other platform does.
Do I still need to ask for reviews myself?+
The automation does 90 percent of the work. But your crews asking in person, at the end of a job, still moves the needle. We will give your crews a simple script and a QR card they can leave with the homeowner. Combining automation with in-person ask typically doubles review rates.
How is this different from Podium or NiceJob?+
Podium and NiceJob are software tools. We use them (or similar) to handle the mechanics, but we add the strategy layer, the response writing, the Q&A seeding, and the reputation analysis that software does not do. Software sends reviews. We manage reputation.

Why It Matters

Reviews directly influence Google Maps rankings and homeowner decision-making. If your competitor has more reviews than you, you are losing deals you never knew about.
